Lore & Background

Before joining the revolutionaries, Lubbock was a loyal soldier of the Empire, but his worldview shifted after he encountered the harsh truths hidden beneath the capital's surface. He realized that the Emperor and his ministers were sacrificing the lives of ordinary citizens to maintain their power. This awakening led him to abandon his post and seek out Night Raid, where he found a family willing to fight for a future free from tyranny.

In Their Own Story

The wind whispered through the ruins of the abandoned warehouse, carrying the scent of rain and rust. High above in the rafters, Lubbock adjusted his glasses, the lenses glowing faintly with a soft blue hue. Through the thick concrete walls below, he saw the heat signatures of three guards patrolling blindly, unaware that their target was already dead. He didn't need to draw a weapon; his eyes were the deadliest thing in the room. With a silent nod to Tatsumi, who waited in the shadows, Lubbock began to weave his invisible threads, ready to turn the hunters into prey.

Reader's Guide

Lubbock was born into the Empire and initially served as a soldier within its ranks. However, witnessing the cruelty of the regime firsthand caused him to defect, leading him to join Night Raid. He is characterized by his laid-back demeanor, often making jokes or acting nonchalant even in tense situations, which masks a deep sense of loyalty and compassion for his teammates. His combat style revolves around his Teigu, Sniper, which allows him to see through walls and track enemies via heat vision. While he possesses decent physical skills, he primarily functions as a sniper and scout, using his glasses to guide allies or eliminate targets from a distance with extreme precision. He is particularly close to Akame and Tatsumi, often acting as a mentor figure to the latter. Tragically, Lubbock meets his end during a mission against the Elite Seven member Seryu Ubiquitous. In a desperate attempt to save his friends, he sacrifices himself, using his Teigu to create a distraction that allows Akame and Tatsumi to escape. His death is a pivotal moment for Night Raid, highlighting the high cost of their revolution.
