The series originated from writer Takahiro's concept in 2007 for an all-female band of assassins capturing a male protagonist. After securing approval from his editor at Square Enix, he delayed serialization until his visual novel studio, Minato Soft, stabilized. In August 2009, following the release of Majikoi ~ Oh! Samurai Girls, Takahiro recruited illustrator Tetsuya Tashiro, drawn to his ability to depict fast-paced action and appealing character designs. Their workflow involved Takahiro writing scripts first, allowing Tashiro to determine panel layouts, with occasional feedback loops between the writer, artist, and editor. This collaboration resulted in a manga serialized from March 2010 to December 2016, collected into fifteen volumes.
